Welcome To Participate In Dream To Reality
I, General Secretary of Yangon Kayin Baptist Women Association had the inspiration to realize my dream at the first batch of Deboer fellowship, event 3 in 2014.
The dream is to protect and empower vulnerable women and children, especially young girls, who are sexually abused.dream-to-reality
We begin to work for the traumatized girls to be free from the tragedies in the past and lead a safe and secure life.
If they have a safe and secure life, their confidence and self-valuing will be increased, and they will also be able to live their life with dignity.
We would like to fix their scattered hearts and emotions. I would like to find back the future that they lost and put them back into places they belong.
We are doing consultation and rehabilitation activities for the mentally abused women. Moreover, we are also working on to raise awareness of protection against sexual abuses to prevent them from violence.
Besides, we also worked to create opportunities of vocational trainings for the young women who did not have much chances to study, aiming to raise their confidence and for their living. Knowledge gained from Deboer Fellowship were helpful and we also invited DF Alumni fellow to participate in the process.
Through collaboration with Government, NGO and INGOs in conducting empowering programs for the youth who had education to a certain extent, programs for protection of sexual abuses against women and children, and anti-human trafficking programs, educated youths could increase their capacity and gain more job opportunities.
In the period of over two years, 103 sexual violence cases against women and children were handled in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare and other local CSOs.
Our organization also takes care of Sexual Violence Survivors from outside of the projected area. Moreover, young girls living in the risky areas were given vocational trainings and supported self-dependent education by the organization.
We have to be alerted since sexual assaults are happening to women and children frequently. Our organization also helps through connecting with other relating organization regarding legal issues. However, we also work as much as we can in caring for the traumatized children. Counseling, Psycho Social Support, Capacity Building and Life Skill were supported to the young girls. Currently, these activities are conducted through the business that produces income for young women and donation from churches. Starting from 2019, we have been saving funds for rehabilitation of the sexually abused young women and children.
